Overture

Waiting For A Sign
Upstairs room in Jerusalem (Acts 1:12-15)

Peter
The Son of God was crucified, later to arise
Our tears of grief were turned to shouts of praise
The world was changed forever, right before our eyes
No more fear or doubt for us, new purpose for our days

Staying in Jerusalem, waiting for a sign
Praying for direction for the work that lies ahead
Asking what the future holds, what is the grand design?
Where on earth will we be sent, which way will we be led?

John
He showed Himself alive with proofs we can't deny
Teaching with authority about the final days
Showing us the kingdom plan before He said goodbye
Lifted up to heaven and then hidden from our gaze

Staying in Jerusalem, waiting for a sign
Praying for direction for the work that lies ahead
Asking what the future holds, what is the grand design?
Where on earth will we be sent, which way will we be led?

Peter
He told us wait here in this place for Holy Spirit pow'r
Together in Jerusalem with others who believe
Continuing to pray as one and waiting for the hour
Certain of the grace of God in what we will receive

Staying in Jerusalem, waiting for a sign
Praying for direction for the work that lies ahead
Asking what the future holds, what is the grand design?
Where on earth will we be sent, which way will we be led?

Field Of Blood/A New Apostle
Upstairs room in Jerusalem (Acts 1:16-26)

Peter
The Holy Spirit told us through the scriptures
Judas would betray our Lord to satisfy his greed
Once sharing in our ministry and counted as a friend
Left hanging in the "Field of Blood", the wages for his deed

We need a new apostle now, someone to take his place
A resurrection witness who was with us ev'ry day
Casting lots between two men, Matthias and Barsabbas
The Lord chose Matthias after prayer to join us on our way

Signs And Wonders
Jerusalem courtyard (Acts 2:1-13)

Believers
Gathered here together
On the Day of Pentecost
Suddenly the house was filled with sound
Like a rushing wind from heaven
With spreading tongues of fire
Enabled by the Spirit to expound

Miracles and prophecy
Sent from God above
Signs and wonders all around

The Holy Spirit testifies
God has done great deeds
Signs and wonders all around

Crowd
Each of us from far away
Here to worship God
Astounded and confused as anyone
We hear them speak our language
These men from Galilee
Telling us the great deeds God has done

Miracles and prophecy
Sent from God above
Signs and wonders all around

The Holy Spirit testifies
God has done great deeds
Signs and wonders all around

Peter's Address
Jerusalem courtyard (Acts 2:14-36)

Peter
Men of Judea and Jerusalem
Listen carefully to what I say
This isn't drunken speech you hear
Not this early in the day

This is what the prophet Joel
Foretold about these days
God will pour His Spirit out
The world will shout His praise

Young men will see visions
Old men will dream dreams
Men and women will preach
The Savior who redeems

God will work wonders in the sky above
Miraculous signs on the earth below
Blood and fire and clouds of smoke
The awesome pow'r that He will show

Before the great and glorious day
When the Lord comes like a flood
The sun will change to darkness
The moon will change to blood

David says about Him
The Lord is always near
My heart is glad, I live in hope
With nothing left to fear

Let all the house of Israel know without a doubt
This Jesus whom you crucified
God has made Him both Lord and Christ
Exalted to God's right side

Repent
Jerusalem courtyard (Acts 2:37-41)

Crowd
Our hearts are pierced
You have shown us our sin
What should we do brothers?
Where do we begin?

Peter
Repent and be baptized
For forgiveness of your sin
In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord
Salvation lies within

Regardless what your sin
No matter how depraved
Whoever calls on Jesus' name
Forever will be saved

Receive the Holy Spirit
The gift He promised all
Save yourself from this dark time
Heed the Lord God's call

Humble Hearts
Temple courts (Acts 2:42-47)

Believers
Devoted to teaching and fellowship
To breaking of bread and to prayer
Selling our property for others in need
Looking for ways we can share

Here we are with humble hearts
Praising God for sending His Son
Here we are with humble hearts
Praising God for all He has done

Signs and wonders by apostles' hands
Reverential awe came over ev'ryone
Holding ev'rything we have in common
Thanking God for the souls that are won

Here we are with humble hearts
Praising God for sending His Son
Here we are with humble hearts
Praising God for all He has done

Meeting in the temple courts
Gathering by common consent
Breaking bread from house to house
Sharing food and always content

Here we are with humble hearts
Praising God for sending His Son
Here we are with humble hearts
Praising God for all He has done

Amazing
At the temple gate (Acts 3:1-10)

Lame Man
All my life I have waited with my hands out
Hoping for kindness from strangers passing by
You're walking past me, but I perceive a kind heart
Maybe you'll be the one who hears my cry

Sitting at the temple gate
Carried here to lie and wait
Staring at my empty plate
Won't someone please help me?

Peter
Look at us, although we have no silver or gold
What we have to give is so much more
In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene
Stand up and walk, get up from the floor

Your legs are healed today
Come join us while we pray
Praise God and go your way
Jesus has set you free

Crowd
Amazing, a lame man healed, amazing!
Amazing, walking and leaping and praising God!
Amazing, a lame man healed, amazing!
Amazing, walking and leaping and praising God!

Just A Man
Solomon's Portico (Acts 3:11-26)

Peter
Why are you amazed at this?
Mere men can't heal the sick and lame
The pow'r of God you can't dismiss
He walks by faith in Jesus' name

I don't want your worship
I don't need your praise
I'm just a man like you

I'm not seeking glory
Riches, pow'r, or fame
I'm just a man like you

God has glorified His Son
Messiah, Lord, and King of kings
The living, holy, righteous One
His death and life salvation brings

I don't want your worship
I don't need your praise
I'm just a man like you

I'm not seeking glory
Riches, pow'r, or fame
I'm just a man like you

Rejected, scorned, and tortured
Just as the prophets said
His feet and hands were punctured
Abandoned, left for dead

I don't want your worship
I don't need your praise
I'm just a man like you

I'm not seeking glory
Riches, pow'r, or fame
I'm just a man like you

God has raised Him from the grave
This fact we testify
Have faith in Jesus, He will save
His name we magnify

I don't want your worship
I don't need your praise
I'm just a man like you

I'm not seeking glory
Riches, pow'r, or fame
I'm just a man like you

Peter And John Arrested
Temple courts (Acts 4:1-4)

Sadducees
What is this nonsense you preach?
Why are you daring to teach?
How have you been so misled?
No one has risen from the dead
Throw them in the temple jail
Tomorrow the truth will prevail

Peter And John's Trial
Council chambers (Acts 4:5-12)

Rulers and Elders
Stand here and confess your game
By what pow'r or by what name?
These things you do you must explain
What is it that you hope to gain?

Peter
We stand accused of this good deed
Done to a sick man in dire need
Let it be known to each of you
That ev'rything you're hearing is true

By the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene
This man was healed, as you have seen
You had Jesus crucified, God raised Him from the dead
Salvation comes in Christ alone, through the blood you shed

How Can We Deny?
Council chambers (Acts 4:13-22)

Rulers and Elders (among themselves)
These ordinary men we saw by Jesus' side
Amaze us with their boldness and their lack of pride
The lame man from the temple stands with them here
What can we say? The facts are clear

How can we deny, what more can we say?
A miracle has surely happened here today
How can we deny, what ev'ryone can see?
The signs are plain to all, we can't just let it be

We dare not let this spread
The people can't be misled
These men must be told not to teach in this name
We don't have much choice
We must silence their voice
To protect our positions while avoiding the blame

How can we deny, what more can we say?
A miracle has surely happened here today
How can we deny, what ev'ryone can see?
The signs are plain to all, we can't just let it be

Rulers and Elders (to Peter and John)
We're warning you now
We cannot allow
Speaking and teaching in this name
Just do what we say
And please go away
Stop playing this dangerous game

Peter and John
How can we deny, the things we see and hear?
To speak about the truth, for us the choice is clear
How can we deny, what God has done today?
You decide if God is right, and who we should obey

Courage
Believer's assembly place (Acts 4:23-31)

Believers
Why do the nations and kings
And people plot foolish things
Against the Lord and His Christ?
Thinking pow'r is in their hands
Always making threats and plans
Denying all He sacrificed

Lord, give us courage
To speak Your message in spite of the cost
Lord, give us courage
To bring salvation to those who are lost

Lord, You are master of all
We want to answer Your call
Give us the courage to obey
You made the sea and land
You hold them in Your hand
We want to do Your will today

Lord, give us courage
To speak Your message in spite of the cost
Lord, give us courage
To bring salvation to those who are lost

Provision
Believer's assembly place (Acts 4:32-37)

Believers
We have one heart and one mind, claiming nothing as our own
With great power giving testimony of the risen Lord
Great grace has come upon us, and kindness has been shone
To those in need among us, with no thought of reward

Owners of land and houses, selling their property
The proceeds distributed to anyone in need
Barnabas was one whose love and generosity
Moved him to sell a field so others could succeed

Lying To God
Believer's assembly place (Acts 5:1-11)

Ananias
We should sell a part of our land
We have much more than we need
We can keep back some of the sale
Give them only part of the deed

We're only looking out for ourselves
Just as anyone would do
It isn't like we're lying to God
Not if our motives are true

Sapphira
You can tell Peter and John
The part you place at their feet
Reflects the whole sale amount
The gift you bring is complete

We're only looking out for ourselves
Just as anyone would do
It isn't like we're lying to God
Not if our motives are true

Peter (to Ananias)
Why has Satan filled your heart
To lie to the Spirit today?
The land was yours before the sale
No one would take it away

When you test the Holy Spirit
By telling people lies
It's really like you're lying to God
Time to say your goodbyes

Wrap him up and carry him out
Spread the news while you're about
There's nothing to be gained by lying to God!

Peter (to Sapphira)
Why did you agree with him
To test the Spirit of the Lord?
The men who buried your husband
Will take you to your just reward

When you test the Holy Spirit
By telling people lies
It's really like you're lying to God
Time to say your goodbyes

Wrap her up and carry her out
Spread the news while you're about
There's nothing to be gained by lying to God!

Signs And Wonders (Reprise)
Solomon's Portico (Acts 5:12-16)

Believers
Many signs and wonders
By Peter and the rest
Miracles of healing through their hands
No one dared to join them
They had our high esteem
We saw the pow'r of God in their commands

Miracles and prophecy
Sent from God above
Signs and wonders all around

The Holy Spirit testifies
God has done great deeds
Signs and wonders all around

Even Peter's shadow
Could heal the sick and lame
Waiting in the streets along the way
Crowds of people coming
From places all around
More and more believers ev'ry day

Miracles and prophecy
Sent from God above
Signs and wonders all around

The Holy Spirit testifies
God has done great deeds
Signs and wonders all around
